Seeking help can be difficult, and it takes courage to share your story with someone. I value the importance of taking time to build a trusting therapeutic relationship and a safe space to share vulnerability. I also firmly believe that you are the expert when it comes to yourself, and I will strive to see the world through your eyes in order to understand how I can help.
Therapy is a collaborative process. I work alongside my clients to help them identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, understand and process emotional distress, practice mindfulness and relaxation techniques, heal from and reprocess past traumas to find meaning and happiness again. I respect that each person will need to work at a different pace, and in their own way.
I utilize primarily a holistic Person-Centered approach combined with psychoeducation. This means that you are in the driver's seat of your healing, and I'm a passenger offering insight and guidance along the way. We will explore many areas of your life (daily routines, physical/neurological differences, cultural background, societal/systemic impacts, relationships, trauma, career, spiritual or religious factors, etc.) when determining how to move toward healing and positive growth. Depending on the needs of each person, I will also draw from other therapeutic frameworks including Mindfulness, Solution-Focused, CBT, ACT, Narrative Therapy, Attachment Theory, and Existential Theory. I also enjoy using humor as a tool to encourage healing :)
I look forward to meeting you, hearing your story, and working together to find a path toward your goals.
